Monaco & the French Riviera

The ULYSSIAN Guide

There is something particularly captivating about the French Riviera in October. The Mediterranean remains warm, the intensity of summer has softened and, following the excitement of the Monaco Yacht Show, the coastline settles into a more relaxed rhythm.

In late September, ULYSSIA was delighted to return to Port Hercule for one of the most anticipated moments in the international yachting calendar. It was a memorable few days spent sharing the latest chapter in ULYSSIA’s journey, reconnecting with familiar faces and welcoming new members into our growing community.

Beyond the harbour, October is one of our favourite times to experience the Côte d’Azur. From celebrated art and quiet coves to long lunches overlooking the Mediterranean, this is our edit of Monaco and the French Riviera, the ULYSSIAN way.

The Monaco Yacht Show

For four days, Port Hercule once again became the centre of the yachting world, bringing together an extraordinary collection of superyachts alongside leading shipyards, naval architects, designers and innovators from around the world.

For ULYSSIA, this year’s show marked another exciting moment in our journey and an opportunity to share our vision for a new way of living at sea. Most importantly, it was a chance to spend time with our community in one of yachting’s most iconic settings – and to share the spirit of ULYSSIA with those discovering us for the first time.

Art Along the Riviera
The Côte d’Azur’s relationship with art runs deep. In Saint-Paul-de-Vence, the Fondation Maeght brings modern and contemporary art together with remarkable architecture and gardens. Continue towards Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat for Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, its Belle Époque interiors and nine gardens overlooking the Mediterranean.

A Different View of the Coast
Some of the Riviera’s greatest pleasures are found away from its most familiar addresses. Follow the coastline from Monaco towards Cap-Ferrat, stopping to swim in a quiet bay, or venture inland through winding roads towards the hilltop villages above the Mediterranean. September is made for exploring at a slower pace.

Where the Evening Begins

The Riviera has long understood the art of the aperitif. In Monaco, Bar Americain at Hôtel de Paris is an enduring favourite, while Gustave at Hôtel Hermitage offers an elegant setting for a cocktail before dinner. Or follow the coast and simply find somewhere to watch the last of the light disappear over the Mediterranean.

Tables Worth the Journey

Some of the Riviera’s finest restaurants make the journey part of the occasion. Head towards Menton for the celebrated Mirazur, or choose Loulou in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin for something more relaxed overlooking the coast.

Back in Monaco, Zeffirino Monaco is a favourite for Italian classics, including its Trofie al Pesto, while Le Louis XV-Alain Ducasse à l’Hôtel de Paris offers an altogether different experience: three-Michelin-starred dining in one of Monte-Carlo’s most iconic settings.
